Research is the systematic process of collecting and analyzing data for some purpose. This definition is general because several methods are available to investigate a problem or question. These research methods, called methodology, determine the ways in which data are collected and analyzed. Qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods are systematic and purposeful methodologies to investigate a specific research problem and answer research questions.
